If my video making activity could be versioned, it could be as follows.
First there was 'version 0.10', an extremely early time up to 2021 when I just tried to capture something and then edit it. It actually resulted in one video being out on YouTube. It gathered like: 70 views? Over a few years. Eventually I started hating YouTube over them removing the ability to see dislikes. And eventually I deleted wy channel. Indeed.
Then there was a time period in 2022 where I was exprimenting with one particular video capture tool. It's called 'VirtualDub'. This is primarily a video capture program, but it also offers video filtering and trimming functions, which means you can capture video and make it presentable/usable all with this program alone. Back in that time I was experimenting with configuring Video for Windows codecs. This's where I figure out how to better configure them. I was capturing very, very long videos of myself doing stuff in Minecraft, mainly riding minecarts, but eventually, I accidentally deleted the whole 'Temporal' folder with these recordings instead of a few files in it. So they're mostly lost.
The videos I made for MeTube 2012, from November to January of 2022 to 2023, can enjoy making up Version 1.00. As you can guess, these are simple recordings captured and processed with VirtualDub. Some were short, some were longer, and lasted several hours and literally resulted from experimenting with ADPCM kind of codecs. I have nothing interesting to tell about them. Just video games, Realworld recordings I once made, Minecraft longplays:
Videos for MeTube 2013, from February to May of 2023, were kinda a huge step up with the introduction of actualy video editing, hence they get Version 2.00. I took a thorough time picking up a better video editor and version to use on my laptop, which is, probably, one of the least powerful systems you can probably half seriously get. I was picking up: and picking up: and just decided to screw it up and just get a version of Adobe Premiere as early as I can. Version 4.01. It was so old it was literally 16 bit, but it also used Video for Windows codecs to work, so it sat into the workflow very smoothly. And here the first 'Textual Videos' came to live. Very primitive, as I was literally learning this editor right as I was putting the videos out. I guess that's a way. They were getting more advanced as the time progressed. But MeTube had to be suddenly closed down. So no testing out clipping Minecarts accross all possible versions.
Between this and the next epoch below I thought of trying to host videos on my own web site, since the hosting provider did offer that. But at that rate I could simply continue writing hypertext documents, hence the helicopter was the only video to behold there. At once, literally in grayscale!
In September I switched to Bitview, as part of preparing to release something else. But to videos this was more of the same, actually, 'version 2.10', or just the future evolution of Textual Videos as I kept learning the program and reconsidering some styling. They eventually grew into videos with light gray text overlaid in boxes with transitions between clips, and that's it. These are some of the best, I guess, and the most numerous because that time period was the longest. But, after being exposed to some of the cutest stuff while being unable to reach an artist, my mental health state wasn't very promising at that point, so as soon as Summer started, I just: stopped. I've never caught up with it, ever again. And BitView underwent the full process of dying a slow death, falling out of maintenance, getting Cloudflared (hence me locked out of it too, cuz it doesn't work!), and, well, dying.
I wanted to make YouTube videos again, now that I don't care about dislikes that much anymore, and as always I do have some ideas for videos and everything. But: I doubt anyone on YouTube needs them. It already has everyone making videos about everything you can think of. I considered to, perhaps, cover some very obscure that still manages to slip out of here (e.g. games by Neil Cicierega, QFIQ, as I don't see anyone actually doing it). Other than that, Animations feel like a lot of work, and I can't bother to open Kdenlive, even. I don't bother to do anything at all nowadays, which is a bigger problem:
